I\u2019ve developed this mini-series from my book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rpmministries.org\/writing\/counseling-under-the-cross\/\"><em>Counseling Under the Cross: How Martin Luther Applied the Gospel to Daily Life<\/em><\/a>. While in the US we celebrate October 31 as Halloween, Protestants around the world celebrate October 31 as Reformation Day\u2014the day Martin Luther launched the Reformation. This is his story\u2026and our story\u2014the story of the joy of salvation in Christ alone.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Luther\u2019s Rope of Hope<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>Luther came to believe that he could never satisfy God through himself or through the church. As Luther came to the end of his rope, God sent him a rope of hope in the form of Johann von Staupitz.\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Upon his return from Rome, Luther was transferred from Erfurt to Wittenberg, In 1511, Luther was invited to be one of the new professors at the University of Wittenberg, and a very important figure entered Luther\u2019s life\u2014Staupitz. A decade later, in 1523, Luther expressed his eternal appreciation to Staupitz:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cIt was through you that the light of the gospel first began to shine out of the darkness into my heart.\u201d<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do you know what personally motivated Luther to launch the Reformation?
