{"id":34888,"date":"2021-06-01T14:55:26","date_gmt":"2021-06-01T19:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biblicalcounselor.com\/?p=34888"},"modified":"2021-06-01T17:16:16","modified_gmt":"2021-06-01T22:16:16","slug":"what-do-you-think-of-all-of-that","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biblicalcounselor.com\/?p=34888","title":{"rendered":"\u201cWhat Do You Think of All of That\u2026?\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/biblicalcounselor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/2021-BC-Interacting.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Increasingly in counseling, I find myself saying some form of this question\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do you think of all of that\u2026?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Let me explain\u2026<\/p>\n<p> <strong>The <em>Personal<\/em> Ministry of the Word<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve read anything I\u2019ve ever written on biblical counseling, then you know I often compare\/contrasts:<\/p>\n<p>  The <em>personal<\/em> ministry of the Word\u2014biblical counseling.   The <em>pulpit<\/em> ministry of the Word\u2014biblical preaching\/teaching.  <\/p>\n<p>You also know that I seek to encourage counselors to take advantage of the blessings of the personal ministry of the Word\u2014factors like:<\/p>\n<p>  The opportunity for <em>give-and-take interaction<\/em> between counselor and counselee.   The ability to <em>talk with<\/em> a counselee about a pertinent passage rather than simply <em>talking at<\/em> or just <em>teaching to<\/em>   The power of <em>trialogue<\/em>: In a <em>monologue<\/em> I talk to or at you. In a <em>dialogue <\/em>we engage in gospel conversations together. In a <em>trialogue <\/em>there are always three persons present\u2014the counselee, the counselor, and the Divine Counselor through the Word of God and the Spirit of God at work in the people of God.   The opportunity to engage in spiritual conversations and scriptural explorations where the counselor does not simply teach the passage.
