This lesson continues that discussion by considering <strong>five distinctives<\/strong> of biblical counseling that hopefully provide some structure and support for your counseling worldview: biblical understanding of people, the centrality of worship, the church, biblical love, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>As these worldview distinctives compose a kind of creed about biblical counseling, these <strong>ten statements<\/strong> are helpful in defining our understanding of counseling ministry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BIBLICAL UNDERSTANDING OF PEOPLE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>A biblical understanding of people<\/em> is essential to <strong>biblical counseling<\/strong>, seeing human nature as composed of inner person and outer person, these constantly joined and interdependent, with the inner person being dominant.<\/p>\n<p>Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated? But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.
