{"id":63734,"date":"2023-08-03T09:00:58","date_gmt":"2023-08-03T14:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biblicalcounselor.com\/?p=63734"},"modified":"2023-08-03T09:08:57","modified_gmt":"2023-08-03T14:08:57","slug":"shepherding-children-through-exposure-to-pornography","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biblicalcounselor.com\/?p=63734","title":{"rendered":"Shepherding Children through Exposure to Pornography"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The reality cannot be denied\u2014the majority of teens are viewing pornography\u2014whether on purpose or by accident.1 We know porn is everywhere, but I think many parents fail to realize what characterizes today\u2019s pornography. Internet porn is made up of moving images with sounds depicting <em>every<\/em> type of sexual activity and orientation. It is dark, it is free, and it is evil.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What is worse than our children\u2019s exposure to pornography is <em>why <\/em>they are choosing to view it<em>.<\/em> Of the children who admitted to intentionally searching for pornography, nearly two-thirds of them revealed they had done so for one or more of these reasons:<\/p>\n<p>  To look for new ideas to try sexually To learn about sex in general To find out how to get better at sex&nbsp; To discover what potential partners expect from them sexually&nbsp;  <\/p>\n<p>Girls, in particular, mentioned using pornography to learn how to meet boys\u2019 expectations.2<\/p>\n<p>The Internet is providing our children with sex education, and it is the worst type. It displays a corrupted and distorted depiction of what God designed to be a wonderful expression of intimacy and oneness.
