What ails you that you keep on arguing?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">I also could speak like you, if you were in my place; I could make fine speeches against you and shake my head at you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">But my mouth would encourage you; comfort\u00a0from my lips would bring you relief\u2019\u201d (Job 16:1-5).<\/p>\n<p> <strong>If Heman Were to Visit a Miserable Counselor\u2026<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on Job\u2019s experience, I started wondering what it might sound like and be like if Heman\u2014the human author of Psalm 88\u2014visited a miserable counselor. In his psalm, often called \u201cThe Psalm of the Dark Night of the Soul,\u201d Heman lays bare to God his suffering, pain, abuse, and trauma. Heman <em>faces his suffering face-to-face with his Father<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Sharing Our Soul with a Soulless Counselor<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>Imagine with me if Heman in Psalm 88 were to share his soul with a soulless counselor\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miserable Counselor (MC): <\/strong>\u201cI\u2019ve read your Personal Information Form. We have a <em>lot <\/em>of Scripture to look at, that\u2019s for sure!
