In Memory of Jay Adams: A Collection of Articles and Resources

A Word from Bob: Dr. Jay E. Adams, the founder of the modern biblical counseling movement, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 14, 2020. Book Review of Saints, Sufferers, and Sinners by Mike Emlet

Saints, Sufferers, and Sinners: Loving Others As God Loves Us by Dr. Mike Emlet (New Growth Press, January 2021) is one of the most important and helpful counseling books since the launch of the biblical counseling movement half-a-century ago. Books on the family and parenting? Boatloads. However, even in our biblical counseling world, we have few books focused on the procedures—the “how-to”—of counseling hurting couples and families. Today’s blog is part of a two-part mini-series on the topic of emotions. Bob Kellemen discusses God’s beautiful design of human emotion and offers a biblical model for understanding our emotional responses. In our second article, Pam Gannon provides a case study of a woman who grew up in an emotionally stoic home to help us understand emotional distortion and emotional redemption.   Continue Reading →
