Contentment through Obedience: Jeremiah Burroughs’ Thoughts on Contentment

Every New Year, we are reminded that our stuff cannot bring us contentment. We just amassed another round of material possessions at Christmas, and none of them finally did the trick. Perhaps that is God’s kind way of reminding us that “stuff” cannot fill us in any lasting or deeply meaningful way? Contentment is elusive. And candidly, I would love to say that were particularly true of our modernized, technologized culture, but contentment has been rampant for all of man’s existence.
