An “Emotional Affair”

“It wasn’t adultery; it was just an emotional affair.” She said these words as a form of self-defense. Her husband, as she saw it, was overreacting. She had been inappropriately texting, spending time with, and sharing details of her life with a co-worker, but there had been no physical contact. Distinguishing between “types of adultery” is often a means of either elevating or minimizing the nature of the relationship. The Bible, however, does not allow us to draw hard lines between types of inappropriate relationships.
