It’s a peculiarity of the English language that, although we identify people as short-tempered, we have no equivalent “long-tempered.” Yet this, read literally, is the very thing that 1 Corinthians 13 identifies as the first quality of love. Most modern translations capture this as “love is patient,” but older versions, with their translation “love suffereth long” (e.g., ASV), provide a more literal translation of the original.
