True confession time. Lately I have become discouraged by how Christians interact with one another on social media—Twitter, Facebook, etc.

The Bible says:

The world will know we are Christians by our love for one another (John 13:25).

Christians on social media seem to think the Bible says:

The world will know we are Christians by how snarky, judgmental, arrogant, proud, Pharisaical, and critical we are on social media.

So, I’ve been pondering the Bible’s teaching on gentleness.

What if “Christian Twitter” and “Christian Facebook” followed these biblical passages on gentleness in our hearts and in our conversation?

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.  Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:2-3).

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice”
