“I believe in the forgiveness of sins.” That simple sentence from the ancient Apostles’ Creed has summarized the faith of millions of Christians for nearly two millennia. “I believe in the forgiveness of sins.” Why? On what basis can sinners like me and you—people who frequently fail to fully obey God—ever hope to have our many sins forgiven? We find the answer in the cross of Jesus Christ.
