Pastor: Help Your Congregation Navigate Gay Pride Month 

For those who hold to the Bible’s teaching on sexuality and gender, the month of June can come with a host of challenging questions. Should I attend our company-wide meeting this month, knowing that the Pride agenda will feature prominently? How do I let my child dress on “rainbow day,” given that she doesn’t know its modern cultural significance? If I refuse to put on the lei that’s handed to me as I walk in the office on June 1, does that simply reinforce the false narrative that Christians “hate” their LGBT+ colleagues? What am I communicating if I put it on? 

In preparation for June, it’s helpful to give a congregation some guidelines on how to navigate these challenging decisions and conversations. For so many of these dilemmas, wisdom will vary based on the circumstances, and the search for all-weather rules is a fool’s errand.
